From its inception onwards, Sabanci University has been targeting to become a world university by promoting creativity in the field of education, as dictated by its philosophy of “creating and developing together.” The Executive Development Unit (EDU) was established in order to close an important gap: the application of practical and theoretical knowledge in executive education, with a particular focus on both global issues and local values. The EDU started its activities in July 2002 in the Faculty of Administrative Sciences building, its facilities including a 50-bed executive hotel, conference halls and training rooms.
The EDU’s notion of education defines personal development as a process; therefore, its programs are designed within a flexible and modular program structure. The EDU faculty staff establishes programs in collaboration with academics active on a national or international level, executives, advisors, experts, executive development institutions, and universities. The objective is to channel accumulated knowledge towards application in the administrative and business circles in Turkey, while at the same time respecting regional and local dynamics.
